A lodestone is a naturally magnetised piece of magnetite, one of the few naturally occurring magnetic minerals. Unlike manufactured magnets such as neodymium or ferrite magnets, lodestones generally have much weaker and less uniform magnetic strength.
These natural magnetic stones are suitable for collections, educational demonstrations, science experiments and exploring natural magnetism.
The lodestones in this listing are relatively small, measuring approximately 2–4 cm. Most pieces can attract materials such as iron powder and staples, while stronger pieces may also attract lightweight ferrous objects such as paper clips or thin iron pieces.

NOTE: Natural magnetic strength is relatively weak. These stones should not be compared with manufactured permanent magnets.
The stated strength rating is an approximate comparative guide only. Magnetic strength and attraction areas vary naturally from stone to stone.
Magnetism may also be concentrated in certain areas of the lodestone. Some pieces may have several noticeable areas of attraction, while others may have only a small area or individual point where magnetic attraction is strongest.
As these are natural stones, variations in shape, surface texture, colour, dimensions, weight and magnetic properties are normal. Please also allow for minor differences caused by manual measurement and photography or lighting conditions.
Safety & Handling: Lodestones are natural mineral specimens and may produce or contain loose particles, including fine iron-rich material. They may therefore be slightly dusty or messy to handle.
This product is not a toy. Do not inhale or ingest loose particles, and wash your hands after handling where appropriate. Adult supervision advised.
